The Taiwan-China dispute is really about the Kuomintang (Chinese Nationalist Party) refusing to accept they were defeated by the CCCP in 1949. The KMT occupied Taiwan, created a brutal military dictatorship and spent the next 20 years plotting a return. The world finally go sick of their delusions and accepted that the CCCP is the legitimate government of China. The only reason any Western country is concerned about Taiwan is it's strategic location and dominance of semiconductor manufacturing. The claims about protecting a democracy are nonsense.
