DOW up 55.52 DCE Oct IO Futures Last:746 Yuan Chg:11 $US104.59
The panic around rebar started in July when rumours started circulating that, come Sept 25th, they wouldn't be allowed to sell the old rebar stock on market at all, as apposed to just not producing old standard rebar. That caused a flood of old standard rebar on to the market, from traders and mills. They thought they had time to unload old stock, and then....ooops. Will it create a higher demand for the new standard rebar? Well, you'd think so, at least upstream, as mills and traders will need to restock to earlier levels after this recent fire-sale.
