Why do you say we had more increase then US in below quote?
My memory says we didn't increase rate every time US increased and not only that we did not had similar level of jump when we did increase after US on number of occasions that is why we still at 4.35% while US went all the way to 5%.
US might had long fixed rate and they also have 40 year mortgage unlike anywhere standard terms are 30 years but that is irrelevant because it is in Australia where housing prices increase even though interest rates gone up all last 2 to 3 year which enough of an evidence that the perceived impact on common Australian homeowner is misunderstood.
