    G'day Bob,

I'm interested in your post because I often wondered which approach is the more lucrative..we are diametrically opposed stylistically. It would be interesting to know if you or any other of the punters have read any studies on the subject.

I'm a great fan of the Warren Buffet school of investing....research and then select quality businesses and hold onto them. The Oracle of Omaha is widely regarded as the most successful investor ever, and very much subscribes to the"pick and stick" school of investing.

For me Fortescue ticked all the boxes (never thought I'd use that tired old expression!), I bought in at 14 bucks 5 years ago and have been richly rewarded with generous dividends ever since. Also we're opposite because I definitely am emotionally connected to Fortescue because of Twiggy's zero carbon emissions IO target by 2030.

I don't think there's any risk of changing each other's minds, but I'd love to hear of any studies done on the subject, of course, as previously noted it would have to factor in a coupla parameters into the equation to be realistic.....traders pay cgt, investors don't, investors benefit from franking credits, traders don't. Of course other factors would be essential.....traders' ability to time the market, and investors' ability to select high quality companies. There's that hackneyed old expression...."It's time in the market, not timing the market that counts".

Anyway, if anyone out there in HC Land knows of any studies, it would be greatly appreciated if you could flick pass them onto us. . It probably boils down to the subjective notion of what you enjoy, what works best for you and what ya feel comfortable with. It's always good to keep an open mind and have your ideas challenged.

Anyway RobertoQ, good luck with your trading, hope ya make an absolute motsa matey! Wes
