I don't believe the outlook economically is positive at all i think the next 3-5 years we could end up worst than 2008 and a lot worst because we didn't really feel it (due to the property market and the lending criteria being as bad as 06 and 07 in many cases). I just think getting rid of 2/3 of a position on a day thats 3% in the red is ridiculous when the stock is going to go up as usual most likely into ex-dividend.

I think also you are being quite dramatic saying the country is run by rednecks. We can't bow to China on all fronts or it will give them even more of an economic monopoly too which will ruin your investments even more. I think the fact that China can so dramatically impact outcomes for companies has been a massive learning experience and will lead to Aussie companies diversifying their grip on the other up and coming economic markets.

What is going on right now with the FMG stock price and the iron ore stock price is extremely short sighted, Countries are going to use infrastructure programs as steroids to pump up their economies, iron ore is going to be massively in demand to fuel this investment regardless of the show China is going to put on to pretend their sky isn't disgustingly polluted, the rest of the world will be able to cater for a lot of the drop off from China. This is all fine though there are a lot more retail investors in the market that cant handle seeing red and are playing the short game, I will just keep buying everyday they keep selling down.
