Texas is the biggest US producer of renewable energy, 25 to 40% of its power comes from wind and solar. I'm pretty sure hail storms are isolated events, but there would have been plenty over the years, they didn't stop Texas reaching this position, and still the money is flowing in to add to the Texan green energy mega-system.
