Iron ore prices remain elevated and there are many extrinsic events supporting the current level.
Only a few weeks ago heavy rain in Brazil (minas gerais) caused landslides around Vale mining sites, threatening tail dams and disrupting iron ore production.

Vale is a world leading iron ore producer of high grade but they have a truly terrible record for environmental disasters and many of their tailing dams still remain on high alert and in desperate need of reconstitution three years after their last disaster

Heavy rains have returned to Minas Gerais. Keep an eye out for weather impacting Vale and causing a sudden spike in iron ore prices. Even the possibility of weather-related trouble will add a risk premium.
