Intervention by the Chinese Govt in order to curb price rises almost shows their hand, doesn't it? Why would you care to stifle speculation in the IOP if you didn't intend to buy a sheetload of IO? This would support the news that they plan to frontload much of their upcoming huge infrastructure allocation.
They can try, but much like their efforts to intervene with Thermal Coal prices - I suspect it will only be temporary.
