the age had an article today with over 200 replies. most agreed that 150k for a family of 4 with mortgage in sydney or melbourne was not much at all.

for some posters it was flithy rich, others were battlers.

on 150k in syd (less 40 grand in tax), buying a 500k 3 bedroom house which most likely is a dump these days (where can you even buy a 3 bedroom home these days for that anyways). 10% deposit means mortgage repayments of 3200 a month give or take, rego, petrol, car tune up, tolls, insurance, electricity, child care, food, school fee's, water, rates, nrma, phone, internet, a sports or music lesson for the kids. it must be absolutely brutal. where's the money left for even the cheapest of a holiday? forget the holiday, i dont see how it can be done in the first place unless home was bought 10 years ago and mortgage much much less than 450k.

but on the other hand, young couple(green voters) on 150k, living in 1 bedroom inner city apartment, no kids, car, water, rates, child care etc and rent of 450 a week. life would be great. no wonder these selfish bastards dont give a crap about anyone else and dont mind paying a bit for carbon tax which will do nothing.
