Busted! Trump's Harlem Bodega Visit Was Organized by Pro-Trump Republican Group

New York Young Republican Club members were embedded in the crowd leading chants

Trump visited a Harlem bodega to highlight his campaign's emphasis on crime. In coverage of the event, New Yorkers could be seen cheering, singing, and chanting for Trump. Pro-Trump, right wing media and MAGA Republicans have used clips of the crowd as evidence that Black and Hispanic voters are turning to Trump in heavily Democratic areas.

The Harlem bodega visit was planned by pro-Trump Republicans

As it turns out, this event wasn't a spontaneous visit. In fact, it was organized by a pro-Trump group, the New York Young Republican Club (NYYRC). Members of the club can be seen at the Harlem bodega location ahead of Trump's visit and can be seen in the crowd later where they led chants.

On social media, the New York Young Republican Club took credit for organizing the event bringing Trump to the Harlem bodega. The NYYRC credits their Hispanic and Black caucuses as well.

On Twitter, Gavin Wax, the president of the NYYRC, also took credit for bringing Trump to the Harlem bodega. Wax posted pictures of himself with NYYRC members waiting for Trump to arrive to the Bodega. The NYYRC knew ahead of time and stationed their people at the event.

Ariglio Rodríguez, the chairman of the NYYRC Hispanic caucus said it was "an honor and privilege to set up the meeting" between Trump and bodega owners. The NYYRC was all over this event.

Trump and MAGA Republicans tried to spin the event as evidence of widespread Black and Hispanic voter support

The Trump campaign posted images of the event to their social media. Trump has also posted several times about it on Truth Social claiming support among Black and Hispanic voters is dramatically shifting toward him.

The RNC tried to spin the Harlem bodega visit as "impromptu" which is incorrect. The NYYRC informed everyone several times across multiple accounts that they planned the event.

Here is Jason Miller at the pre-planned event, snapping photos for social media posts. The event was embedded with pro-Trump MAGA Republicans who led the group in singing, cheers, and chants for Trump.

Trump has a pattern of staging events

For Trump's campaign, this is a pattern. He did it at the Chick-fil-A in Atlanta, and he will do it again. When pro-Trump MAGA Republicans are invited to gather at a pre-planned events in heavily Democratic areas like Harlem, of course they are going to cheer for Trump.

The campaign spins this as organic support from "the people" and right wing media like Fox News laps it up and repeats it. The Trump supporters at these events may be sincere in their cult-like devotions, but these events are not emblematic of Trump's actual support in the community.
