I would also like to see it invest in other areas but a little can go back to shareholders without affecting any deals.
Also too much cash can make you a takeover target not the other way round.
The directors wouldn't be changing direction by paying a dividend, they would be maintaining the direction of rewarding shareholders.
If you make plenty of money, if it is surplus to requirements, it should be returned to holders.
