Its going to be a rough week ahead - Electricity futures sold off sharply on friday which won't bode well for AgL or Origin - even worse for ORG its under takeover due diligence with a direct impact to its gas business.
As the market further digests the rushed energy market proposals, it will be less clear and more confused forcing the industry energy to abandon greenfield investments they may have had, whilst pausing existing approved investments - cutting off the main solution ie more supply.
The key takeaway which needs to be understood is the actual impact of these changes. However this will be difficult if you go by the CPRS (carbon tax) legislations implemented by the government of the day 10 years ago. Apart from paying billions of dollars in compensation($240m went to Loy Yang A) and continued energy policy uncertainty there wasn't much impact at all.
