An interference test is simply a passive monitoring activity where they will monitor the pressure in nearby wellbores whilst producing or injecting in another. Monitoring the pressure transient as it propogates away from the production wellbore will detail any impeding geological features and their sub surface position. While not technically difficult the challenge in an offshore environment is the cost effective installation of a monitoring system and subsequent access to the data as their is clearly no infrastructure over those monitor wells.
