I'm not an accountant but I think the 1:5 consolidation would increase your cost base for each share. Your initial cost is the same so the cost base for each share would be 5X the original cost.

Many times a company, after consolidation, will offer to sell small parcels for you. It clears up small holdings on the registry that cost a bit to manage (mailing reports and announcements,etc). We will have to wait and see what happens after (if) AAQ re-lists.
