The stock therefore has limited institutional ownership. However should its run continue, Big may be in line for inclusion into two key small cap benchmark indices – the ASX/S&P 300 and the ASX/S&P Small Ordinaries index which excludes the 100 largest stocks in the index. At Big's current size, it has already exceeded the market capitalisation threshold required for inclusion in the indices.
That is likely to force more of the market's larger small cap fund managers to meet with the management, analyse the company and make a call one way or the other on its prospects, as they have done with other runaway stocks such as A2 Milk and Afterpay.
