thank you. My friends think I’m nuts being any where near hotcopper but I’ve found it a useful reflective process. I think if I’d written anything a few years ago it would have been too raw though the concept was very obvious to me ages ago. hotcopper has provided many many insights.

when i was researching an article on an asx listed company conman and abuser that resulted in two separate articles i also spoke to the parents of a wife that has died and the girlfriend that followed. She was a psychologist and one of the hardest things she faced was forgiving herself. She felt she “should have known better”. I was out the other side so a lot of insights and engagement with her. That experience too meant a slightly more distant processing of insights and experience and building understanding of that particular type of many who wasn’t so very much different from my own but much much more adept.

many friends and neighbours saw the signs but had no idea how to address it with me. So I’ve played with that a lot and can actually apply the skills I gained in my professional field to do so.

there are so many books on this topic so I’ve also been reticent but believe I can now write something that is just a little unique

Your friends might be right about being on
HotCopper, lol.
I find HotCopper a useful tool for my investing and
trading activities but I have started to spend less
and less time in the political threads. There are a
few decent people but many are too intolerant of
people with different views.

I would love to write, I actually started a few years
ago, but I struggle with expressing my thoughts
in a logical and coherent manner at times.
I have been in recovery for near on three decades
and I’m finally seeing the light at the end of the
tunnel. I have read literally hundreds of books
about the human mind and how as humans we
can be become dysfunctional and maladaptive.
I have learnt a lot about myself and it’s interesting
observing how other humans interact and
behave.
I believe the most important thing in life is to
have peace of mind and love ourselves, only
then can we love a partner and our friends in the
way we should.
No one is perfect but it is nice to be in a place
where we can be forgiving and accept people for
who they are, quirks and shortcomings included.
It’s equally important to love ourselves enough to
know our boundaries and to enforce them when
required.
