I think the issue you mention relates to the Prius braking system which inputs energy to the batteries under braking ... a pretty unique feature for this hybrid.
We just picked up a new Ford Eco-netic this morning for Mrs Dex ... much faith and trust in this little pearler which at 3.1L/100km from a 1.6L turbo diesel beats the Prius on fuel efficiency with the added bonus of being able to stop 8))
