is that really a problem? In many overseas nations, there are coalitions - coalitions with multiple parties - not just something like the Liberals with a little top up of NP ------- enhanced so they thought (how'd it work out for ya fellas) - with preferential voting

no, not that simple in many countries - in many you see 5 parties or MORE

ok, there're a lot of negotiations --------- but, those governments work. They work as well as almost any other.

It ALL comes down to who are the representatives, what are the party principles - are the policies true to those principles.

philosophically it is 'probably' reasonable to say that a coalition of good people is better than a single party of good people

because if one is to have any faith at all in humans - then if the single party of good people goes bad - one can only hope that an entire coalition of good people won't go bad at the same time

Finding the good people is the issue.

Maybe we need to look at a sort of quasi de-federation along the EU model or better still, along the Swiss model where thenational body just gets involved with defence, foreign affairs and a few taxes and leaves everything else to the states
