We are disappointed with Alcoa’s decisionto displace locally manufactured product with importsfrom multiple sourcesABC whacked today on the announcement that Alcoa is ceasing its supply agreement with ABC for the supply of lime.

Given the size of the contract, I am surprised at the unproportional size of the share price drop.

I think the market was spooked by the following comment:
"We are disappointed with Alcoa’s decision to displace locally manufactured product with imports from multiple sources".

ie is ABC loosing its locally manufactured competitive advantage whereby its cheaper just to import lime.

If this is the case, then the underlying concern is not just the loss of the Alcoa contract but also other contracts in the future.

I don't have an answer, but this could explain the risk and hence the 23% drop in share price.

Maybe others with more knowledge in this industry can contribute.
