Paladin enters Canada with $260m deal to buy Fronteer Gold's uranium asset.

PALADIN Energy has expanded to Canada with a $260 million deal to buy Fronteer Gold's uranium assets.

Fronteer will emerge as the biggest Paladin shareholder, with a 6.7 per cent stake, amid tightening uranium prices and an emerging global land grab.

Fronteer intended to float off its 40 per cent owned uranium offshoot Aurora Resources, but the global financial crisis stopped the plan, which prompted it to move to full ownership.

"Paladin is currently the largest independent, pure play, publicly listed uranium producing company in the world and this move helps us consolidate on this position," Paladin chief executive John Borshoff said yesterday.
