Perhaps an adjunct question could be: do we put Capitalism or Democracy first?
In Capitalism we have authoritarian social structure , inequality & the persuit
of profit for the few while in Democracy we expect the will of the people/majority
to be expressed and the general good upheld.
Or are we a bit conflicted (as the Americans say) about both
