German culture is upright, german engineering is excellent - the conditions which led to WWII were far more a reflection of the eye for an eye reaction of the French leading to Weimar hyperinflation. Then another crisis of capitalism into the great depression, the situation in Germany was intolerable and like all wars this was totally avoidable.
