Russia’s economy is a pale shadow of its former glory. It would be the demise of Russia to entertain the idea of re-establishing a Soviet block today because it’s focus is largely on weaponising itself while people usually lean towards economies that increase their individual utility. That is why you won’t see a lot of migrants to DPRK even though it is a ‘Nuclear Powerhouse’.

As to China entering into any war, maybe in the next 30 years that might be the case. It’s current spending on war is puny relative to the USA. I do not think it would last one day on a full blown war with USA anyway. China’s strategic positioning on war is also very limited due to lack of trust from other nations which cripples its ability to counterattack from various countries. Its biggest weakness is it’s a very easy target due to having a lot of its activities centralised within specific locations and a few effective strikes on those locations would result in huge casualties and crippling of military infrastructure. In short, China going to war today would be its worst miscalculation ever. I do think though that it’s too clever to make that mistake. It would be a blessing in disguise for the USA to re-emerge as a global superpower with no rivals.
