Clinically speaking, these floods and the continuing La Nina pattern will seriously impact revenues from many industries including resources, agriculture and tourism. This will impact the balance of trade numbers and the AUD as a consequence.
Personally speaking, the floods (in NSW) brought out both good and bad emotions and some which may be both good and bad when a few of my own assets (but not the house whish is on a hill) were at some risk.
Arrogantly (but it's constructive criticism) I cannot fathom why local councils have not required the construction of traditional Queenslander style homes (or high mounded slab homes) in known flood areas in in any state. Then I wonder why people cannot see this for themselves until the rain actually starts falling. It's a bit like investments I guess.
