"The other piece of speculation doing the rounds in the west is that Fortescue might be readying a bid for Brockman. Most observers expect that if Fortescue does anything with Brockman, it will more likely be a joint venture arrangement like it has with BC. But the miner would gain some benefits from acquiring Brockman outright, including picking up capacity at a new berth at Port Hedland due to be built in 2013.
Brockman needs access either to either Fortescue's rail line or BHP's main Mount Newman rail line to get ore from its Marillana project to Port Hedland."
