Hird hasn't won to many sympathises in all of this. Has surrounded himself with high priced advisers to guide him through the saga. Hasn't served him well, the weight of evidence that he has been presented with and unanimous support for the AFL from other club presidents has caused him to admit fault. The problem was he had strongly pronounced his innocence from the very outset. Pretty shameful really. The only point I would sympathise with him was the constant media scrum waiting outside his family home for a long period of time, often conducting interviews from the road verge outside his house.
