Despite what Sakalidis would like punters to believe with his superlatives and emphasis on zircon, the North Perth Basin heavy mineral province is predominantly an ilmenite ore body, more particularly, altered ilmenite.

The 2 major miners in the province, Iluka and Tiwest both realised at the outset that in order to mount a viable operation they would need to include a synthetic rutile process to handle the ilmenite.

Whilst economics may have changed, I believe the same still applies. North Perth Basin operations based on zircon and rutile only would not be viable.

Statements by Sakalidis regading the use of that ilmenite as a sulphate- process feedstock only serve to demonstrate his lack of understanding of the industry.

The question is not so much one of does IMA intend to mine but rather a question of does IMA understand what is involved? Having watched IMA closely (because of my background). The answer is "No".

If I were you,I'd be dumping IMA and MAUCA, asap, and holding PWN.

    Cheers
