"Remember the first duty of a doctor. “First do no harm”.
Again a moral judgement and opinion rather than a medical one.
I don't go to doctors for morals, I am fine with my own.

I understand that doctors want to do the best for their patients.
But they should not be making decisions on what to tell patients based on their assumptions of the patients reaction to the truth.

Lets say rem is worried a patient has coping issues if he finds out some very bad news.
That's totally understandable as it may put his patient at risk.

What does this patient do when he finds out he has been lied to by his doctor because the doctor thought he was at risk. How does that affect his future interaction with doctors.
Worst case scenario is he is so pissed off he comes after rem. the patient already has suspect coping issues.

You have to tell the truth, for the patients and the doctors sake.

Treat the patient as an equal, who has come to you for specialised advice.
If there are concerns about their ability to cope. Treat that symptom.
