Confusion reigned on the Australian share market today with some stocks forced to halt trading because of a technical issue that saw all company announcements grind to a halt just after midday.
The ASX confirmed that no announcement had been made since 12.11pm, and that any company that issued a price-sensitive announcement was immediately put into a trading halt.
“Yes, it’s not publishing announcements,” said Matthew Gibbs from the ASX.
“There’s a technical issue that we’re investigating and will have normal functionality returned as soon as possible.”

Market trading is continuing as normal with some exceptions.
“As a precaution, any stocks with market sensitive announcements to release have been placed in a halt to prevent any disorderly or uninformed trading,” Mr Gibbs said.
The ASX could not say how many stocks had been halted.
