Here's my list..
On a conventional build, cavity brick, or timber framed brick veneer, the brickies stands all the window and door frames and butts the bricks/finishes it straight to the frame of the window. Other than a light acid down, the external cladding is totally finished with all windows installed,
In our timber framed brick veneer, our carpenters fit the windows into the frame, complete with finished timber reveals attached, then the brickie finishers the bricks straight to the frame. Absolutely no finishing required.
That is a massive savings already.
A HX built wall, either a brick cladding is required or a team of plasterers are required to complete, not to mention the difficulties of trying to fit windows and doors into a competed block wall opening, can you imagine how much more work is required to carry the render over the clearance gaps to the window frames?
People only see a finished photo of a building and do not understand the extra work that is involved in labour. Then you have the problem with fixings, everything must be plugged and screwed.
Roofing. There will be no difference in roofing, it will be all steel frame or timber trusses with the traditional eaves lining. 2 weeks more hire an scaffolding is pittance on a job.
Heads over openings. They use concrete lintals because they can match the height of the block. They are heavy, expensive and very awkward to install and limit how far they can span.
Then you have warranty issues with using a couple of lines of dripping glue on the bottom of the block only, will it stand up over time during different seasons, thermal expansion and contraction over the years.
You understand why this type of construction never took off here and you will soon enough find out it won't be successful in the US.
