I thought this too, I work in bank and privacy laws are very strict but in saying that, I remember years ago getting unsolicited offers for shares I held all the time (always through the mail and very professional) It was a huge scam back in the late 90's early 2000 that saw many people lose their shares. Information was available for these scammers to do this, I would have thought things tightened up since those days.
