Surfing at Airport reef in Bali, you can watch the planes come in to land. One day, years ago, I got concerned watching a Garuda plane. It came in to land then pulled up and went around. Did this a few times. I imagined the plane was having trouble landing, getting the wheels down. etc. Another surfer informed me that the Garuda pilots practice there.... but apparently a plane did go to far and crashed into the jungle some years earlier.
My wife's a bit of a plane spotter and reckons they've changed the flight course over Perth recently. She pointed a plane approaching from WSW the other day. Being a space cadet I'm usually oblivious to these things, but come to think of it, I don't recall airliners coming from that way.
Of more concern to me are the small planes that fly from Jandakot Airport. Not sure about now, but years ago, there was very little security..... those pictures of 9/11 still appear way too often in my head..... I'm more concerned about the passengers.
