If it came to that don't think they would have much trouble raising the money. After all, even AMP raised money last year!
Problem seems to be that 7% of their loan portfolio is exposed to Oversea Electricity companies (who are trying to sell Australian assets to sure up their balance sheets) and the TMT sector.
Also:
ANZ have also been the most lax lender to the mortgage market in Australia. They were the only company that would allow a 95% loan on an investment property up to 400K value with capitalisation of mortgage insurance, ie. a 97% loan. Their serviceability requirements were also easier to meet in my view then other banks.
