    I don’t think it’s the end of LICs, by any stretch of the imagination.

    But I can’t see too many new ones being launched for a while (probably a good thing, as there seem to have been too many come to market in recent years)

    What is happening though is that the premium people are willing to pay to buy into a LIC has been shrinking over the past few months, presumably in reflection of the likely change in the franking credit rules under Labor. And it’s not just the Wilson stable of LICs that are being affected. Traditional LICs (Argo, Australian Foundation etc) have also seen their premium reduce.

    Maybe one last flush out this week before the election, but who would know.
