Worth considering. I am currently in Yangon for work but travel extensively through Asia. Myanmar is exploding but i still see it as Bangkok 30 years ago. Apart from accommodation which is bloody expensive (lotsa chinese here too.) every thing else is cheap as.
Nine of us went to the Golden Duck restaurant last night for a huge meal. The pork and Mango is to die for never had anything like it.
The total cost was 135,000 kyat - about 150 dollars and that included all the beer. Taxi from the airport to town (12 miles) is about 8 dollars. Myanmar beer in a long neck is 60 cents.
I rented a good unit in Ho Chi Minh city for a month - cost me $1200 for the month. Lady to cook and clean about $300.
Basically all i have in australia is a unit on the beach with no debt, a bit of super and i only go back to see my kids and mates. A lot now come and visit me wherever i am. All i have is one bag and that is all i need.
