    I think we do make some silly defense purchases but i haven't looked into it a lot, we will have to rely on America for quite a while imo but i don't see a large chance of a military invasion here at the moment but who knows.

    Yeh, not rich enough, some countries have some big militaries and we only the 21st largest exporter behind Belgium, Spain, we're like a quarry because the cost of business and value adding in Oz is uncompetitive, we also only half the GDP of UK and have borders and waters much bigger to protect and patrol if need be.

    GDP's here...Our GDP per capita is much higher than UK though, people doing better here than UK on average.

    $18 billion of divi's paid out last week from Oz companies i think and don't forget everyone invests 10% in the market via super so the people directly benefit from those companies as long as they live past 65-70 to withdraw the forced super returns, a lot of money in Super, it doesn't all go to overseas investors.
