Excluding biotech microcaps of course, as success is dependant on protracted clinical trials. e.g ACW with Alzeimers and BIT with HIV-1.
But for businesses that should have large year on year revenue growth, after 2 years in the business, you either have it or you don't. Extra time does not equate to eventual revenues, as management cannot admit they're actually not getting traction. You just have to start with all those announced deals and how much actually came out of them.
