@CAP'nSteve....No it doesn't. Dividends come from profits. With increased profits the SP goes up, which makes JAT as a company, worth more. Therefore the shareholder gets more money if he sells the shares. The money only comes from JAT, if it buys back the shares from its profits.
BTW If you write a cheque, you are actually creating currency too. A friend of mine had that explained to him by the Commonwealth Police, due to an event in SE Asia.
