In general when one looks around one finds that hardly anything is made here locally. We sell our resources on the cheap and buy back finished goods. We wear Chinese manufactured undies, socks, shirts, pants and watch big screen tv's made anywhere but here.
Jobs, what jobs - jobs have been given to countries where labor is cheap. We even bring in islanders to pick on our farms. Many jobs on offer here are now casualised with no job security, no benefits and insufficient hours. Add in robots, red tape, govt imposed lockdowns.
Additionally, one needs all sorts of clearances just to wipe someone else's poo off toilets as a cleaner. Then one gets blamed for spreading a virus having to keep two or more jobs of a few hours each just to survive - often weekends and nights.
Don't blame management - blame lies elsewhere - let you figure that one out - but hey, I may also be wrong - but I doubt it.
