"
The word "Begotten" has to be understood properly. In Greek it's μονογενὴς (monogenes) There are two definitions. The first definition is "about being the only one of its kind within a specific relationship."
The ONLY part of that word which can be deemed as one of a kind is the
"only"= no MORE and no Less = END of that Story.
Begotten is from begat or beget = so before whatever it is that was begotten, IT WAS NOT begotten -> non existent = Simples.1 John 5:18 -
We know that whosoever is born of God sinneth not; but he that is begotten of God keepeth himself, and that wicked one toucheth him not.
1 John 5:1 - Whoever believes that Jesus is the Christ is born of God, and everyone who loves Him (Father) who begot also loves him who is begotten of Him.
HENCE THE BEGOTTEN TERM ON IT'S OWN WITHOUT "ONLY", IS CLEARLY DEFINED = BEFORE YOU WERE BEGOTTEN, YOU WERE NOT THE BEGOTTEN ONE = SIMPLES.
-------------
"John was primarily concerned with demonstrating that Jesus is the Son of God (John 20:31), and he uses "Begotten" to highlight Jesus as uniquely God’s Son" = FULL STOP —sharing the same divine nature as God <- ????????????John 20:31 - but these are written that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that believing you may have life in His name. -> The Word of God.Image of -> The Word (Father) = The Word OF God (Son). -> The name that no one knows Rev 19:12.
John did NOT write the Book to show that Jesus is God, God the Son, God in flesh or that he is The Word = NO, NO, NO!To say otherwise, is to step OUTSIDE the Book of John, the inspired words of the Father.
2nd Adam Man -> One nature like the 1st.
Nature -> Deu 18:18 -I will raise up for them a Prophet like you from among their brethren, and will put My words in His mouth, and He shall speak to them all that I command Him.
Luke 2:40, 52 - And the Child grew and became strong in spirit, filled with wisdom; and the grace of God was upon Him.
And Jesus increased in wisdom and stature, and in favor with God = (Only true God and Father J 17:3) and men.
John 3:34 - For He whom God has sent speaks the words of God, becauseGod does not give the Spirit by measure.John 14:10 - Believest thou not that I am in the Father, and the Father in me? the words that I speak unto you I speak not of myself: but the Father that dwelleth in me, he doeth the works.
Acts 2:22 - Men of Israel, hear these words: Jesus of Nazareth, a Man attested by God to you by miracles, wonders, and signs which God did through Him in your midst, as you yourselves also know—
14:10 - When Jesus expressed out the God and Fathers words, by hearing them was deemed as seeing (perceiving - Inter) the Father.
Hence, when he expressed out the words of the God and Fathers (John 17:3 the only true God at the time of Jesus) he became the express image of the God and Fathers Person - Heb 1:3 KJV.
HENCE THAT SNIPPET OF HOW AND WHY HIS NATURE WAS AS PER THE FATHERS, IS LOUD AND CLEAR, 'BECAUSE' THE BIBLE SHOWS US AND SAYS SO!.
--------------
" Jesus is God’s “one and only” Son. The bottom line is that terms such as "Father" and "Son," descriptive of God and Jesus, are human terms that help us understand the relationship between the different Persons of God."
Re your bolded words there, they are NOT of Jesus or the writers of the Bible, BUT the tradition of men.The description of Father and Son, are exactly that.
In short, the God and Father made Jesus by his word (Isa 55:10, 11 ex) and power, which is the Holy Spirit = The God and Father Matt 1:18.
Hence he begat a Son. (Begotten).
Psa 2:7 -I will (not yet)declare the decree: Yehowah hath said unto me, Thouart my Son; this day have I begotten thee.Acts 13:23 - God has fulfilled this for us their children, in that He has raised up Jesus. As it is also written in the second Psalm: ‘You are My Son ,Today I have begotten You.’
Heb 1:5 -
For to which of the angels did He ever say: “You are My Son, Today I have begotten You”? And again: “I will be to Him a Father, And He shall be to Me a Son”?
But when He again brings the firstborn into the world, He says: “Let all the angels of God worship Him.”Firstborn -> Col 1:18 - And He is the head of the body, the church, who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead, that in all things He may have the preeminence.
-------------"Jesus is God’s “one and only” Son."
The "only" in the context of one of a kind for numerous reasons yes and one example there is -> there's only one 2nd Adam Man.
But he is not the only Son according to the Bible.
Rom 8:14 -For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God.
-------------The Spirit of Jesus;
John 17:3 This now is the eternal life that they should know YOU (Father), the ONLY TRUE God and whom you have sent, Jesus Christ.(Jesus there, Unquestionably and independently of himself, defines, references the Father ALONE as the Only True God when he was here.
He makes NO reference to needing to know a holy Spirit person as well as him and the Father, for eternal life, as no other verse does either, BECAUSE the Father is the One Holy Spirit)
John 1:18 - God no one has seen ever yet; the only BEGOTTEN God, the being in the bosom of the Father, he has made him known. The only here is as, one of a kind, as there are other God's.
Begotten and CONFIRMED in Jesus's words in 17:3, was after the cross and after his 40 days when he was glorified and made an only Begotten God.
Begotten simply meaning, he was NOT a God before then as his words show in 17:3.
The odd (few) references elsewhere in the Bible, where it shows him as a God,
the timeline IS as per the above. The 2nd Adam MAN is now a God under The God and Father of Him.
Lord under The LORD God Almighty.
1 Cor 15:27 -For he “has put everything under his feet.” Now when it says that “everything” has been put under him, it is clear that this does not include God himself, who put everything under Christ. When he has done this, then the Son himself will be made subject to him who put everything under him, so that God (Father) may be all in all.John 14:28 -
You have heard Me say to you, ‘I am going away and comingback to you.’ If you loved Me, you would rejoice because I said, ‘I am going to the Father,’ for My Father is greater than I.
In summary, I will NOT be following the creative nonsense by the tradition, as to what the "only begotten" means, as the Bible shows this in very simple terms, along with logic and common sense.
