Yes, shelf life less relevant here as this is the raw ore. It's not refined. There are literal mountains of it so I don't think they care about the shelf life, they just mine the stuff even if they don't need it so they can supply it cheap. They are playing the (very) long game. They hoard the stuff regardless to mess up the pricing. China caused the price to sky rocket and then collapsed it. Money not important to them as compared to taking over on a global scale. Same as car manufacturing. They will flood markets with cheap cars as we are already seeing to collapse the competition (Europe, USA, Japan). It's happening as we speak. Some commentators are saying they could collapse the multi trillion dollar industry.
