that’s an interesting perspective. I think that it spends on whether you are a chameleon - in which case it’s more likely to be the company you keep (or think you are keeping), have had some sort of personal crisis that makes you see things differently, or a change in circumstances. Some - yes rusted on either way.
I think that it’s ok to change your views but probably not ok if you adopt particular perspectives because you think that’s how you need to appear to certain people. That’s pathetic
I quite like having a life where on a daily basis I am free of negativity, belief the world is ending, and fairness and the most exposure to politics comes through hotcopper. The value of hotcopper is to remind us of the multitude of views and that everyone thinks the views they have are the right ones - or reasonable.
quoting science, or research does not guarantee everlasting accuracy or “rightness” apart maybe from some very basic facts about the world.
eg I believe the earth is not flat but if it’s a simulation maybe it’s not round either.
