You are correct and that is one of the most significant moves for the positive that AL and board made. NC never understood that when there are problems that to solve you have to live with the troops. Rally them listen to them then focus on what they tell you is important. You do not need to know details to understand the problem yourself, just know your people, look into their eyes when they are telling you something, Record what they promise and measure results. Then use people skills to decide which way to go.
Elton musk was probably one of the best examples of this. When model 3 had production problems he changed management several times still no results. What did he do next? moved a bed into the factory and lived there till problems were solved. What better way to bring everybody's focus front and center. Truly understand where problems are.
