is mr abbott a liar?

Ms Gillard will never be able to live down the lie that was "there will be no carbon tax under a government I lead". She couldn't worm her way out by calling it a Price on Carbon. It didn't matter that her promise had become inconvenient.

Mr Abbott suspected the condition of the deficit when he made his promise of no new taxes. It won't matter if his promise has become inconvenient. He can't worm his way out by calling it a levy.

Is Mr Abbott a man of honour or a liar? We will know soon enough.

There is plenty of government spending cuts he could make. Perhaps he has been captured by the public service town of Canberra.
