I really looked into this as well due to a friend and family member. As they both got older health problems occurred. Is it from stress or drinking or both? I don't know. One had a big company and big stress. Family member - now known marriage stress. Friend died from liver problems in his 50's. Family member now heart problems in her 50's. Both into fitness and healthy eating.

But how much is damaging - I don't know.

I was never a big drinker and it was hard to tell the drinkers I couldn't drink much because of my kidneys. Family member thought nothing of offering my daughter a glass of wine in front of me and that was that. She was 10 at the time. That hasn't stopped them drinking but I no longer talk to them either.
