"And amid talk that BHP is interested in building potash projects or acquiring Canadian ones, rival Vale has announced it is in talks to buy the 42 per cent stake in Brazilian fertiliser company Fosfertil owned by US agribusiness Bunge. Rio Tinto sold its potash asset, Argentinas Potasio Rio Colorado, to Vale last year as it sought to pay down its significant debt load."
