    From the above article ... "Global electricity demand will increase 2.5 times by 2050".

    Against that backdrop and that timescale there is a place for gas ... conventional, coal seam and syngas from UCG.

    If tomorrow it was decided Australia would go nuclear, it would be a decade before the first power station approval was granted and I doubt one could be comissioned within a further 5 years. Within say 30 years there might feasibly be five such power station operating ... and that wouldn't anywhere near account for a 2.5 x increase in national electricity production.

    Here's an idea for the publicity dept ... float the idea that the Gunnedah, Surat, Bowen and Gallilei coal basins are geologically stable and well suited to housing a network of nuclear power stations ... that should take the heat off current CSG and UCG proposals 8))
