Yeah, I do understand the tech, I'm just not sure I fully understand the benefits it would bring to the economics of a heap leach operation yet. EG, what would have more profit, heap leaching 20k tonnes @ 0.2 g/t stright from the pit or heap leaching 10k tonnes @ 0.4 g/t thats gone through ore sorting. In theory, you would get the same amount of gold from each, so the question is what's cheaper, ore sorting or building a larger heap leach pad.
I'm also unsure on how grade may impact recovery rate. Hopefully that is addressed in future studies, along with ore sorting.
then , of course, there are more sophisticated potential uses of ore sorting when combined with more detailed grade control - as you pointed out. however, again there are more complex economics to run with that.
