this needs to be taught in schools - we are losing our identity (the recent tee shirt debacle e.g.) and the current curriculum, actually for many years now, goes out of its way to avoid any mention of our true beginnings.

Umm, the so called "tee shirt debacle" is more about the noisy minority being given a voice by social media and internet communications.
No longer are these topics of discussion limited to hairdressers, pubs or other gathering places.
Media control has turned full circle, away from the media barons and back in the hands of individuals on a soap box.
