my trouble is; is the bloke capable of such reasoning? we don't know. all we have is brief clips of his cross armed keeping guard on the young miscreants. is it a reasonable thing to detain with menaces (as he no doubt would feel menacing to little children) because they were swimming in a pool?

doesn't matter really if the kids were brindle or purple with pink dots, I would have told the kids to get out of the pool and told em to go home then secured the pool fence to ensure no others might be tempted, then left a full note to the owners to get their pool security fixed.
